BIO

Liam Ruiz is a composer and producer who specializes in music for Film, TV, and other visual media. Originally from Tempe, Arizona, his earliest memories are of a house filled with music. His father, an amateur guitarist, always played and practiced music for Liam to hear, playing songs from rock and blues artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits, and Eric Clapton. His grandmother also introduced him to music at an early age, giving Liam a strong admiration for classical composers such as Chopin and Arvo Pärt. When he was 12 years old, inspired by the music from his favorite movies, he started to teach himself piano, spending hours after school trying to learn how to play his favorite film cues and very quickly, he began composing his own music. In high school he expanded his musical interests into many different styles including Funk, Jazz, Pop, avant-garde classical, and a variety of Latin-American musical genres.

During his studies at Berklee College of music, he met artist Kieran Rhodes and co-produced on his records “Disengage” and “Getaway Car.” While at Berklee he also gained experience composing for film, working alongside musicians and directors to help them realize their creative visions. His most recent project was the 2024 short film, The Murder of Kate Buchanan directed by Jackson Minshall. In all that he does, his musical ambitions are always still motivated by that adolescent passion that compelled him to learn piano: the power of music to tell stories.
